Service Learning/ Internships

"Live as if you were to die tomorrow...learn as if you were to live forever."

-Mahatma Ghandi

Service Learning is a great way to give back while exploring the different dimensions and culture of an organization. LEEP works diligently to provide students the opportunity to use their knowledge and skills to help enhance the lives of our participants. Class credit, professional development, and recommendations are just a few of the benefits our Service Learners and Interns have with LEEP. Contact LEEP's Program and Volunteer Coordinator, Cate, to schedule an interview, ask questions, or discuss potential opportunities within our current programming.

SERVICE LEARNING with LEEP

Service Learning Spots for Spring 2014 are filled!

Here at LEEP, we treat our Service Learning Students with extra care. We want to provide a holistic experience, while meeting your course credit needs. Please follow our "Service Learning Checklist" when completing your hours with our agency. Thank you for chosing us as your community partner!

Service Learning Policies and Procedures:

Time Commitment: We want you to get the most of your experience during your Service Learning with LEEP. We understand it is often times paired with school work, employment, and other committments. However, because of the individuals we serve and build relationships with, LEEP asks for at least a 15 hour commitment throughout the semester. Our members look forward to each and every volunteer, staff member, and student who walk through our doors, and depend on YOU to keep our programming running smoothly.

"What if I can't Commit to 15 hours?"

If you need a volunteer experience, and are interested in LEEP, you can help us by volunteering your time as a Short-Term volunteer! LEEP is always looking for event help at dances, fundraisers, and in the office. Contact Cate at programcoordinator@mankatoleep.org for more information on how to help.

Transportation: You must have your own reliable transportation to get to LEEP activities. All LEEP transportation must be reserved for members.

Paperwork & Evaluations: All Service Learning Students are directly supervised by a LEEP Staff Member at all times. Our staff works hard to ensure quality programming at every event, and are happy to fill out course paperwork, sign Volunteer Time Cards, etc. Cate, the Program and Volunteer Coordinator, is the primary contact for all initial Service Learning Applications and University/College relations. Any Service Learning Contracts, paperwork, or other class materials will be signed by the Volunteer Coordinator once you have completed the LEEP Volunteer Orientation. Please direct your or your Instructor's questions to her at 507-387-5122 or by email at programcoordinator@mankatoleep.org. PLEASE NOTE: NO HOURS WILL BE APPROVED UNTIL YOUR VOLUNTEER FEEDBACK FORM IS SIGNED AND SUBMITTED TO OUR OFFICE!

"I learned a lot about how a nonprofit works. I loved working with particiapnts and watching them evolve as individuals and as a team. I loved seeing all the aspects of LEEP and being able to do so much with the organization!"
