Special Olympics

 LEEP coordinates Special Olympics for the Mankato Area. Most sports consist of eight to ten weeks of practice and training, an Area Tournament (halfway through the season) and a State Competition (end of the season). Some sports also offer a Regional Tournament that is held between the Area and State Tournaments. Sports specific program.

"Special Olympics Minnesota believes that through sports training and competition, people with intellectual disabilities benefit physically, mentally and socially; families are strengthened; and the community at large, both through participation and observation, is united in understanding people with intellectual disabilities in an environment of equality, respect and acceptance." - SOMN.org

Special Olympics requires all athletes to complete an Athlete Physical Form form in their entirety and must be on file at LEEP in order to participate in Special Olympics sports. Forms are required to  This form must be updated every three years and without the appropriate forms completed, athletes may not participate in Special Olympics.
* This form does require a current physical including a Dr.'s signature.
